Wish me tons of luck; my Forbo flooring arrived Friday, and I'm going to tackle loose laying in my kitchen starting tomorrow. The tile is dreamy-just beautiful, and I'm scared to death I'll screw this up. BUT. Chicks rule, and for all that I'm terribly nervous about doing this, it's onwards and upwards for me. Assuming it turns out as well as I hope, I'll come back here and post a couple of photos.

This product is garbage. If you've already bought it and haven't installed it, don't install it. There are numerous problems with the product. 1. You will note a picture of a seal on the box, that says "H2O proof. There is NOTHING water proof about this product. 2. The linoleum is bonded to what appears to be a layer of burlap glued to particle board (more like cardboard) about 3/8 of an inch thick. After regular moping, the linoleum will unglue itself from the sub-straight. The tiles start to buckle around the edges. I've worked an area about 35 feet by 35 feet using this tile. It fades, the linoleum is inferior and will peel up. Water easily gets between the tiles and then under the tiles where it will eventually mold. My job is to replace the worst of these bad tiles. The product is so unstable, that you have to trim every piece to fit it in. It also appears to be unstable in that the linoleum seems to have shrunk on the replacement tiles we have. It is tedious trying to replace these, having to cut, chisel, sand or grind edges to fit in replacement tiles. Due to the buckling of so many tiles around the edges, we bought a small air compressor and high powered stapler, having to staple each buckling tile around the edges. Then you have the problem of having to pull out the staples when the tiles are shot. This means using vise grips or a grinder. Our tiles are laid on a plywood base, 3/4 inch PT plywood. If you could see how bad this tile ages in just two years since it was laid, you would never buy it.

    • @tompastian3447

@@Rikb1234 Sorry, I don't have the capability to send a photo. The floor I'm referring to is the Blackbird Ordinary Lounge in downtown Miami. They put in a 35 by 35 foot floor using this product 2 years ago, a blue floor tile. I just installed several pieces a month ago to replace pieces that were deteriorating . They already look bad. The entire floor looks horrible for something installed just two years ago. Like I mentioned, there's nothing waterproof about the product. Moping the floor about 4 to 5 times a week, the tile itself starts to separate from the layment below. Just fitting in replacement tiles is tedious, and I find that the replacement tiles, brand new out of the box, show the particle board extends a fraction of an inch wider than the tile. To eliminate that exposed particle board, you can cut or sand off the overlap, but what a job. We have to use a pneumatic staple gun to fasten the tiles to the plywood subfloor. This also detracts from the appearance. Overall, the tiles look hazey, faded, worn, coming up around the edges in various places. My suggestion would be to find a tile that is absolutely water proof. I don't know what to recommend, but I did notice Ridgid floor tiles at Home Depot, claiming to be waterproof. Before making a big investment and doing a lot of work, just buy a single box and do your own research to see how the tile holds up.

We love our Forbo linoleum. It works great in our climate where we have snow on the ground 3 to 4 months a year - which means boots and the dog track in snow. Today, people use robots to clean their floors. We clean weekly with the Roborock Q Evo vacuum and mopping robot. The Roborock vacuums first, followed by spinning mop heads (with water with a small amount of a neutral pH cleaner). The robot regularly returns to base to wash the mop heads so they do not accumulate a lot of dirt. The floors look great and attain a nice patina over time.
